Dear Beer Enthusiasts,
After another week in lockdown, the weekend is yet again approaching. Finally!
I have had a busy week. Working from home, homeschooling my two children and writing for “The Beer Collection” kept me occupied and distracted from all this lockdown business. I don’t mind keeping three balls up in the air at one time, but sometimes, you need a break! Even when I got to try catching yeast with the kids.
Yeast trapping from flowers and open air. An experiment in progress, more to follow.
Unwind is exactly what I will do over the weekend. Sit back, relax, enjoy the weather and think all things beer! I hope you will do the same and enjoy a nice cold (homemade) brew.
A break offers the mental space to reflect. A lot has happened to the TBC this week and there will be a lot to think about. For example:
1. The TBC has written and published four articles across three platforms (Medium, Vocal. Media and Substack). All articles are freely accessible. Is there a way to speed up article writing and publication?
2. I have identified small glitches and errors in how emails get delivered to you (sorry). I want the TBC to become a newsletter that every reader can enjoy. Good quality content that is accessible and intuitive.
3. In its first ten days, The TBC has grown from one lonely subscriber (me) to fifteen!! The TBC strategy is to grow substantially in the coming months. To do so, more free, high-quality content will become available. All you have to do is spread the word about the beer collection and enjoy the articles and surprises coming your way!
4. I have discovered that many novice brewers struggle to get started for various reasons. This discovery has led to a new series at TBC, aimed at starters. The TBC opens the shack for the homebrewer at any level. Come on in, and bring your friends!
5. There is a significant interest in quality (beer) content. Along with a steady stream of visitors to TBC articles, some readers left a tip via Vocal (if this was you, thank you!!). Clearly, the Beer Collection brings quality content that some are willing to tip for. Writing on Substack and Vocal about brewing is not a ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme. I, therefore, appreciate any small contribution that will help me do the hard work! If you wish to send a tip, you can do that here.
There is some way to go before I am ready to offer content and services to paid subscribers. My priority is to serve you, early subscribers, the best free content for as long as I can. Even if this means I have to hand out some paid subscriptions as a gift. I hope you have enjoyed this newsletter so far and you will stick around for more. Much more!
Your interest, enthusiasm and feedback will make the TBC newsletter something to look forward to. I, for one, look forward to sharing some amazing articles with you.
Thank you for your support.
Cheers,
Edgar.
