Dear Brew Enthusiast,
For me, 2020 has been one of the most challenging years; this is probably true for most of us.
As I sit here and contemplate the last couple of months, however, I see reasons for optimism.
I sincerely hope and wish the same to you too.
The Beerologist aims to provide content that matters to brewers big and small, novice and pro. Based on all the positive feedback received, and discussions held surrounding the science of brewing beer, I think we are succeeding.
Our commitment to engaging is where The Beerologist will continue to make an impact. I am sure that there will be many good things to come.
On that note, I recently sat down (online, mind you) with Jake Johnson from "Crafted". Crafted is a blog, focusing on brewers that have or are about to turn professional. We soon discovered that there is scope to explore science in the context of brew startups.
In this extra edition of The Beerologist, you will find a link to the post that Jake and I co-wrote. I thoroughly enjoyed jogging my memory and reflect on the much-needed cheer that brewing beer brings.
In a nutshell and as summarised by Jake, we cover:
Science as creative expression, beer as art
Humility's role in science and homebrewing
The value in analyzing your product, and hope for a cost-effective way to do it

I hope you will enjoy this work as much as we loved producing it!
Best wishes,
Edgar, The Beerologist
